Matthew will soon be half my age.
Picture opportunities are far and few between, so when he lets his guard down, I take full advantage!
Matthew is now 16 years old and is a Junior at RHS. He's a member of the art club, and will be taking a trip next summer to Japan.
MMD likes to make faces at his mother when he knows she is taking his picture and he half-heartedly doesn't want her to.
He'll begin to pick on others that are around, such as his little sister. They exchange their words back and forth. Matthew making clear that he is superior.
He'll keep focused on his little target...
...until something out of the corner of his eye catches his attention. The time for picking on his sister will pass.
Since MMD was little, I've told him not to touch feathers he finds in the street or in the yard unless he washes it!
You see that he listens to his mother very well, as he throws the feather to the ground with disregard for its beauty.
A doctor told us recently that Matthew has stopped growing. I would like to disagree!!! Does this picture not show that his legs have out grown his pants?? He has just grown too fast, and as I recall his Dad grew a little bit after high school!
If Matthew only knew I posted a picture of his hairy legs I think he would have me in a full nelson demanding that I take the picture off the blog. So, shhhhhhh, don't tell him!
I love the pain in the neck that Matthew can be when he wants to be honery. I enjoy his company when we have a moment of alone time. I like to watch Matthew interact with his siblings and can see that he genuinely cares for them in his own way. I worry about him and hope that he is a happy young man. I love being his Mom and he makes me proud!
The family obtained a cat sometime in 2000. He came home from the humane society of Longmont. His name is Scorpio. His name is the sole reason for the enticed trip to the pound and ultimate adoption. Once he was released from his carrier, he owned the house.
He once was a feisty fellow. He loved to hide in his little cat tube that we placed on a table in our living room so he would be able to look out the window when we weren't home. But these days he lounges around all day, that is if he is left out all night.
Scorpio has many luxuries. 
Scorpio comes and goes as he pleases. 
He's tolerated many other four legged friends to come through the house, or stay outside if they choose. He didn't particularly care for two little cats that found their way home from the San Luis Valley, Noodles and Cleopatra. He started to use our laundry baskets as a urinal to protest their presence in the house. Since Scorpio lived in the house first, the two little ones had to find new homes.
Now he shares the house with Mika
Mika would also chase Scorpio, that is until she found I was not going to allow her to stay in the house if she did! They are buds now. Well, they tolerate each other.
I wanted a little dog so that I would be able to take the creature with me if I were to leave the house, but at the same time, needed something to ground me and keep me home when the kids were not! I needed that something that would fill the silence of an empty house and keep my mind from floating without a reason. Mika keeps me entertained! She barks and chases birds; she talks back to the neighborhood dogs; and sometimes even the dogs on TV.
We were ready to be out of there when the all clear finally came! We head back to the office to discover the tornado hit Windsor, one town directly north of where I live, and the other tornados that touched down OH SO CLOSE TO MI CASA!
I tried calling the schools out in Johnstown and Milliken as both Luke and Ashleigh were in school and I couldn't get through to either of them! I watched the 9news webpage even closer than usual to make sure that they were ok! Jeff then called to tell me that he would be going out to Johnstown to get the kids to make sure they were ok!
I spoke to Luke shortly after 3 p.m. He said he didn't hear or see anything and they did the usual drill! No excitement for him!
When I spoke to Ashleigh at 4 p.m. she told me that they had to cancel all of their special acitivites and that they were put in the Library where it was the safest place to be for them. They didn't have electricity and were not allowed to go to their after school care, ABC. I don't think she realizes really what was going on with them, which in her case is a good thing!
When I got home, I discovered that I had a few tree branches down, which is the norm for any storm that rages through my neck of the woods, so I picked them up and put them in a pile near a flower garden to be hauled to the backyard. I checked the rest of the house and then went back outside to work in the yard as usual. Especially since there wasn't any light in the house.
My neighbor across the street asked me over for a drink, so I took a break from the yard work I was doing to get the scoop on what the weather was like while I was at work. She said that it was pretty crazy, but that she worked out in her yard between the systems that moved through town.
She heard just before I got home that a tornado touched down at CR 13 and HWY 60 which is about a three quarters of a mile to the west of my house! She said that they had the road closed down there, but I don't recall it being closed down when I drove home!?
I was without electricity until around 6 a.m. this morning. When I flipped the switch to the kitchen light I was releaved when it turned on!
We are currently in the clear. Heidi just told me there was another Tornado Watch in effect for the same counties in Northern Colorado until 7 this evening! Here we go again!
